UIN Mataram Rector and Kopertais XIV Coordinator Visits STAI Denpasar Bali, Expresses Support for Institutional Transformation

DENPASAR, BALI — STAI Denpasar Bali welcomed Prof. Dr. H. Masnun, M.Ag., Rector of UIN Mataram and Coordinator of Kopertais Region XIV, during an institutional visit to the Meeting Room of STAI Denpasar Bali. The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen institutional relationships, exchange perspectives on higher education development, and express support and appreciation for STAI Denpasar Bali’s ongoing efforts to transform its institutional status from a College of Islamic Studies (Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam/STAI) into an Institute of Islamic Studies (Institut Agama Islam/IAI).

The meeting was received by Dr. H. Arjiman, M.Pd., Chairperson of STAI Denpasar Bali, accompanied by representatives of the institution’s academic and administrative personnel. The engagement reflected the importance of maintaining constructive relationships between regional higher education coordination bodies and private Islamic higher education institutions in their efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and educational quality.

Strengthening Institutional Relationships through Silaturahmi

Prof. Dr. H. Masnun, M.Ag., attended the meeting in his dual capacities as Rector of UIN Mataram and Coordinator of Kopertais Region XIV. His presence represented an important institutional connection between university leadership, regional higher education coordination, and the development of private Islamic higher education institutions within the region.

Beyond its formal institutional context, the visit provided an opportunity for silaturahmi, strengthening communication and professional relationships between the Coordinator of Kopertais Region XIV and the leadership of STAI Denpasar Bali. Such engagement is valuable in fostering mutual understanding, sharing institutional perspectives, and maintaining constructive coordination to support the sustainable development of Islamic higher education.

For STAI Denpasar Bali, establishing and maintaining these relationships is an important part of its broader institutional development efforts, particularly as the institution continues to prepare for its proposed transformation.

Support for STAI Denpasar Bali’s Institutional Transformation

A central focus of the visit was the institution’s ongoing aspiration to transform from a college into an institute. The support and appreciation expressed during the engagement provided meaningful encouragement for STAI Denpasar Bali as it continues working toward strengthening its institutional status and developing its future direction as IAI Al-Ma’ruf Modern.

Institutional transformation represents a significant strategic milestone that involves more than a change in institutional designation. It requires comprehensive preparation, organizational readiness, stronger governance, and the development of academic and administrative structures capable of supporting broader institutional responsibilities.

The proposed transition also reflects STAI Denpasar Bali’s commitment to expanding academic development opportunities, strengthening educational quality, improving institutional competitiveness, and increasing its contribution to Islamic education and society. These aspirations require continuous institutional evaluation, coordinated preparation, and a shared commitment across the academic and administrative community.

The support expressed during the visit should be understood within the context of institutional encouragement and constructive engagement. It represents appreciation for the institution’s development efforts, rather than formal regulatory approval or a final legal decision establishing its proposed new institutional status. The transformation process remains an ongoing institutional endeavor that requires the fulfilment of applicable requirements and procedures.

Strengthening Synergy with Kopertais Region XIV

The engagement also highlighted the importance of maintaining strong synergy between Kopertais Region XIV and STAI Denpasar Bali. As a regional coordination body for private Islamic higher education institutions, Kopertais plays an important role in facilitating institutional coordination, guidance, and communication within its regional scope.

Constructive relationships between Kopertais and private institutions are essential to supporting institutional development, improving academic quality, strengthening higher education governance, and encouraging awareness of relevant regulations and institutional responsibilities.

For STAI Denpasar Bali, continued communication and coordination with regional stakeholders form an important foundation for navigating institutional challenges and pursuing sustainable development. Collaboration and institutional guidance can help strengthen organizational readiness while supporting the broader objective of improving the quality of Islamic higher education.

Collective Participation in Institutional Development

The meeting also involved several representatives from different organizational functions at STAI Denpasar Bali, reflecting the institution’s administrative and academic support structure.

Alongside Dr. H. Arjiman, M.Pd., the participants included Butet Silvia Devi Nasution, S.E., Head of the Academic Affairs Division; Pasai Syahri Dewa, S.Pd., Higher Education Information Technology and Data Operations Staff (TIPD and Higher Education Data Operator); Bagas Son Husin, Educational Staff of the Bachelor of Sharia Economics Study Program; and Gifari Iman Nugroho, M.M., Educational Staff of the Bachelor of Islamic Education Management Study Program.

Their involvement illustrated the importance of cross-functional participation in institutional development. Academic administration, information technology, higher education data management, and study program support are interconnected elements that contribute to organizational effectiveness and institutional readiness.

The process of transforming an institution therefore requires collective participation, not solely the direction of institutional leadership. Coordinated contributions from academic and administrative personnel are equally important in building a stronger organizational foundation.

Advancing the Future of Islamic Higher Education in Bali

STAI Denpasar Bali’s aspiration to become IAI Al-Ma’ruf Modern forms part of its broader commitment to advancing Islamic higher education in Bali. The proposed transformation reflects an institutional vision of becoming a stronger, more adaptive, professionally managed, and academically relevant higher education institution.

Achieving this vision requires continuous preparation, strengthened governance, academic development, and constructive cooperation with relevant stakeholders. It also demands a shared understanding that institutional advancement is a long-term process supported by consistent efforts across all areas of institutional management.

The visit of the Rector of UIN Mataram and Coordinator of Kopertais Region XIV consequently served as a meaningful moment of institutional encouragement and relationship-building. It reinforced the importance of silaturahmi, regional coordination, and collaboration in supporting the development of private Islamic higher education institutions.

As STAI Denpasar Bali continues its institutional transformation efforts, the support and constructive relationships established with regional stakeholders remain valuable elements of its development journey. Through institutional readiness, collective commitment, and sustained collaboration, STAI Denpasar Bali aspires to contribute more significantly to the advancement of Islamic higher education and society.
