STAI Denpasar Bali Students Promote Islamic Education, Character Development, and Community Engagement at SD Negeri 2 Pering

PERING, BALI — Two students from the Bachelor of Islamic Religious Education Program (PAI), Class 7A, at Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Denpasar Bali, Ayu Fatma Aprilia and Rosa Kharunia, participated in Teaching Practicum (Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan or PPL) and Integrative Community Service (Kuliah Kerja Nyata or KKN Integratif) at SD Negeri 2 Pering, Pering Village, Bali. Their activities focused on strengthening Islamic religious education, supporting school programs, developing student character, and contributing to the surrounding community.

Throughout the program, the students actively supported Islamic educational activities, including practical sessions on daily prayers and ablution (wudu) conducted every Saturday. They also facilitated the memorization of short Qur’anic surahs and daily prayers at the end of lessons. In addition, they organized a Maulid Nabi celebration to introduce students to the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and participated in religious study gatherings organized by the Baitullah women’s Islamic study group (Majelis Taklim).

Their educational contributions extended beyond religious instruction. The students helped organize and decorate the school library to create a more attractive learning environment, assisted classroom teaching whenever additional support was needed, and participated in various school activities. They also supported a Mesatua storytelling competition through video production and conducted an anti-bullying awareness program to encourage positive social behavior, mutual respect, and a safer school environment.

Community engagement and environmental awareness were also important components of their activities. The students participated in regular school cleanliness initiatives during the second break and supported cheering activities associated with the Maybank Marathon. Their contributions further extended to environmental improvement initiatives, including greening activities at Al-Qomar Mosque, establishing a reading garden at Taman Bermain Aliyya, and cleaning and sorting waste while providing waste bins at Al Iman Prayer Room in Batubulan.

These initiatives demonstrated how educational service can extend beyond classroom activities to include literacy development, environmental responsibility, religious awareness, and community participation. Through direct involvement, students gained opportunities to practice cooperation, discipline, creativity, and social responsibility in different educational and community settings.

The program was conducted under the guidance of Mukhtar Saifuddin as the Field Supervisor. Academic supervision provided an important framework for connecting university learning with practical teaching responsibilities and meaningful community engagement.

For STAI Denpasar Bali, the involvement of Ayu Fatma Aprilia and Rosa Kharunia reflects the importance of experiential learning in preparing future Islamic Religious Education teachers. Through PPL and Integrative KKN, students are encouraged to apply their academic knowledge while promoting Islamic values, supporting educational environments, and contributing positively to society.

Educating with Knowledge, Inspiring through Islamic Values, and Serving the Community through Meaningful Action — these principles reflect the broader significance of preparing future educators who are professionally competent, socially responsible, and committed to serving the community.
